Transform Your Cabinets With Expert Refacing
How Cabinet Refacing Works?
Your kitchen can look completely different in just a few days without a full remodel. Cabinet refacing keeps your existing cabinet boxes in place and replaces the doors, drawer fronts, and visible surfaces with new materials. Less disruption. Less waste. A result that looks brand new.
Learn exactly what the process looks like from start to finish below.
The Cabinet Refacing Process, Step by Step
Step 1 — Free In-Home Design Consultation
A designer from Art of Drawers visits your home to assess your existing cabinets, discuss your goals, and walk you through door styles, finishes, and hardware options.
Step 2 — Custom Order and Production
Once you approve the design and sign off on the quote, your doors, drawer fronts, and veneer are custom-manufactured to fit your exact cabinet dimensions. Art of Drawers uses quality materials built to last and are backed by a 10-year warranty.
Step 3 — Cabinet Preparation
On installation day, your existing cabinet doors and drawer fronts are removed. The cabinet boxes including the frames and interior structure, stay in place. Your installer inspects the surfaces for any damage and preps them for the new veneer application.
Step 4 — Veneer Application
New wood veneer is applied to all exposed cabinet box surfaces, including the face frames, side panels, and any visible areas so the finished result looks cohesive and consistent. The veneer is precision-cut and adhered for a clean, flush result.
Step 5 — Door and Drawer Front Installation
Your custom-made doors and drawer fronts are installed on the updated cabinet boxes. Hinges, pulls, and knobs are installed or replaced at this stage. Your installer adjusts every door for alignment and smooth operation before leaving.
Step 6 — Final Walkthrough
Before your installer leaves, you walk through the entire project together. Every door opens cleanly. Every drawer front aligns. If you notice anything, it gets addressed before the job is closed out.

What Cabinet Refacing Does Not Include
Cabinet refacing updates the look of your existing cabinets. It does not change the layout, add new boxes, or replace countertops. If your cabinets are structurally sound but visually outdated, it may be time to think about refacing your kitchen cabinets. If you need to move walls or reconfigure your kitchen floor plan, a full remodel may be a better option.

How Long Does Cabinet Refacing Take?
Most cabinet refacing projects are completed in 1–3 days, depending on the size of the kitchen. Compare that to a full cabinet replacement, which can take weeks and requires emptying your kitchen entirely.
How Much Does Cabinet Refacing Cost?
Cabinet refacing typically costs significantly less than full cabinet replacement, often 40–60% less. The exact cost depends on your kitchen size, door style, and material choices. Art of Drawers provides firm, itemized quotes during your in-home consultation. There are no surprise charges after the job starts.
