3 Different Ways to Organize Your Pantry - Art of Drawers

3 Different Ways to Organize Your Pantry

There are a lot of benefits to getting your pantry organized, whether you have a small apartment or a big house. You’ll save a lot of time trying to find things when you want to cook and have a snack, and you’ll save money as well. How? You won’t waste money buying things you didn’t know you already had, and you’ll be less likely to let things expire before you use them.

Art of Drawers has a wide range of solutions that can help you not only get organized, but also make the most out of the space you have in your pantry. If you would like to learn more about how we can help, just contact us online or give us a call at (770) 800 8410.

Here are three different ways to help you start getting your pantry organized.

1. By Category

First, take everything out of the pantry. Hopefully, everything will fit on your kitchen table, but even if it doesn’t that’s OK. Just find space. Sure, your kitchen will be cluttered, but it won’t stay that way very long.

Next, group like items together by category. For example, put bread, cereal boxes, and any other similar items into one group. Put chips, dried fruits, and any other items you and your family like to snack on in another. Put one group of items back in the pantry, and then the rest. If you have children, create a separate area for their snacks. We’ll cover this in the third section.

2. By Use or Recipe

You probably have a lot of staple items, like beans, rice and other dry goods, that you typically use when cooking meals. If you tend to cook the same meal a lot of times, but the ingredients needed to prepare those meals together. You’ll be amazed at how much easier and faster that will make things go.

Also think about putting the baking supplies you might have together. These include things like nuts, sugar and other things you use when you bake cookies or cakes. Put frosting, mixes and other ingredients into this group.

3. By Family Member

Let’s take a closer look at how to organize your snacks. As we mentioned earlier, try to have one area in your pantry for the snacks you and your spouse like the most, while keeping a separate area your children can access.

Keep the adult snacks higher up, so your kids can’t get to them. This can be an area where you also keep canned goods, like soup, that you can make quickly when you don’t feel like putting together a huge meal. Try to carve out a good deal of space, because you might buy soups and other canned products in large quantities.

As far as the children are concerned, put their stuff on the lowest shelf if your kids are still small. Separate them into ones that they can have throughout the day, and into snacks that they can only have at special times, like after dinner.

You’ll be amazed at the many ways the professionals with Art of Drawers can transform your pantry into something that you might not have previously considered.

One way is installing pull-out shelves. They’re a fantastic addition to your pantry, making it easier to get to some of those heavier items that can be a chore to grab when needed. Drawer separators will also make it a lot easier to find what you want. It really doesn’t matter what size your pantry may be – drawer separators will help you keep everything in order, because you’ll be able to see everything much more clearly.

They will also help keep you from having to deal with the dreaded “junk drawers” that so many homes have. These are the drawers where items basically go to disappear. Over time, they can get so messy that you don’t have the slightest idea what’s inside. Separators will help you avoid this issue.

But Art of Drawers can also help you organize other parts of your home, such as the kitchen and the bathroom. Here are just a few examples of how we can do it.

Kitchen

We have a wide range of solutions that will make your kitchen much easier to navigate. Whether you’re looking for ways to increase the efficiency of your food preparation, your storage, cleanup or just about anything else you can think of, we can help. You’ll not only save time, but also a great deal of annoyance as well. Your kitchen will be a place of joy, not a place of dread.

Art of Drawers can, for instance, redesign spaces such as drawers and cabinets, creating a lot more room than you probably knew you had. We can create under-sink storage and install drop-down drawers that will maximize your available space, and give you much faster access to all of your cooking and cleaning tools.

We can even install a drawer into a cabinet that can serve as a new home for your trash can and recycling bins. You’ll have more floor space as a result, and keep your trash hidden from view.

Bathroom

Art of Drawers can also make it much easier to get around your bathroom, making your daily preparation a lot faster in the process.

Pull-out drawers will be worth considering. They maximize the amount of vertical space you have in your bathroom, increasing your storage capabilities and making things much easier to access. These are sliding shelves that will be custom-made to your exact specifications, and those days of having to reach deep into a dark cabinet will be gone for good.

How many times have you had to do just that, knocking over a lot of bottles in the process? How many times have you bought a bottle of shampoo, only to realize you already had a full one buried in the back of your cabinet? With pull-out drawers, you’ll never have to deal with any of that foolishness ever again.

Thank goodness for discovering Art of Drawers! We recently downsized and found ourselves with an itty-bitty pantry and limited cabinet space. After a family referral, we contacted AOD for an estimate. From start to finish, they were completely professional.

We are so pleased to have pantry drawers to fit our needs exactly as wevhad envisioned. Downsizing meant less storage space so it helped tremendously to turn this kitchen pantry under a staircase into pull out drawers. It is still a walk-in pantry too! Thank you and we highly recommend this organizational and storage need to everyone.
