8 Creative Tips to Organize Your Bathroom and Make It More Accessible

Your bathroom should be a place where you go to relax. These days, self-care is so important. Even more so, it’s important to have a place where that self-care is practiced. A messy bathroom just isn’t inviting, and your self-care routine may fall to the wayside because of it.

At Art of Drawers, we want to help you turn your bathroom into a place of solace where you can take a relaxing bath, perform your daily skincare routine, or just get business done. After a long, stressful day, these tasks will be easier with proper storage, organization, and accessibility solutions.

In a small bathroom, cleaning and organizing can seem like a challenge. You may feel like you don’t have enough room for all of your products and devices, leading quickly to stress-inducing clutter. Without a storage system in place, clutter can be a headache.

If you’re looking to turn your bathroom from a headache into a home spa, here are eight creative organization tips that can help you accomplish that goal.

1. Declutter first.

First and foremost, you should go through your belongings and decide what you do and won’t want to keep. Throw out anything that’s expired or old, and rehome any products that you don’t use anymore. Sometimes it can be difficult to get rid of products, especially after spending hard-earned money on them. But know that decluttering will save you money in the long run.

With your bathroom items decluttered, you’re less likely to repurchase products you already have or let things expire, meaning you won’t have to spend as much time decluttering again in the future.

2. Use the inside of cabinet doors for storage.

If you don’t have a lot of storage space in your bathroom, you may find yourself grasping at straws when it comes to organization ideas. However, even in the smallest spaces, you can make things work for your needs.

Use the insides of your cabinet doors for additional storage by placing over-the-door hangers or adhesive shelves to the inside of the door.

3. Use drawer dividers.

Drawer dividers are a great way to increase accessibility in your drawers. Without drawer dividers, it can be difficult to keep drawers organized. Dividers will help you not only organize everything, but they’ll also make it easier to see all of your products at once. That way you don’t have to dig around to find what you’re looking for.

Drawer dividers can also help you save money, and products can get lost in messy drawers, causing you to repurchase things you don’t really need. Drawer dividers are great for bathroom sink drawers as well as vanity drawers!

4. Install pull-out shelving for easy reach.

Pull-out shelves are a great way to maximize your space if you’re dealing with a cluttered or small bathroom. Without pull-out shelves, you lose out on a lot of space inside your cabinets because your products don’t occupy all the vertical space.

For example, say your cabinets are two feet tall. Most of the products in that cabinet are likely less than a foot tall. So you’re losing a foot of storage space unless you install pull-out drawers.

5. Use lazy Susans to utilize space.

Lazy Susans make your products more accessible, as you won’t have to dig around to find the things you’re looking for. Instead, you’ll be able to spin around a lazy Susan to easily access what you need. These work both in cabinets and on countertops.

6. Maximize space around under-sink plumbing with u-shaped pullouts.

Plumbing is obviously vital. But it may be annoying to deal with when it comes to organizing the space under your sink. U-shaped pullouts can help make this space more accessible and much less annoying.

Pullouts will not only help you to more easily organize this space, but you’ll be able to maximize the space available by using the vertical space more efficiently.

7. Use containers so like items can be pulled out together.

Just like in your kitchen, you can organize your bathroom cabinet space into zones, making items easier to access. By grouping like items together, you’ll be able to pull out what you need when you need it, without having to dig through drawers and cabinets for each individual item.

This will also make putting things away so much simpler. Instead of having to place each individual item back in its corresponding home, you can just return the container to its rightful place. This makes everyday tasks like putting on your makeup or doing your skincare routine miles easier.

8. Label, label, label.

To finish off your bathroom’s organization system, make sure to label everything. Label individual containers and pullout drawers to make it easier to quickly find what you need. Not only will you be able to find things quickly, but it’ll be easier to maintain your organization system over a long period of time.

Thank goodness for discovering Art of Drawers! We recently downsized and found ourselves with an itty-bitty pantry and limited cabinet space. After a family referral, we contacted AOD for an estimate. From start to finish, they were completely professional.

We are so pleased to have pantry drawers to fit our needs exactly as wevhad envisioned. Downsizing meant less storage space so it helped tremendously to turn this kitchen pantry under a staircase into pull out drawers. It is still a walk-in pantry too! Thank you and we highly recommend this organizational and storage need to everyone.
